This two-day course unlocks the power of Adobe Photoshop CS3 specifically for use in video production. The first day introduces students to the basic tools and techniques in Photoshop, including the differences between raster and vector images, selecting pixels for manipulation, working with layers and channels, using gradients, and creating titles and type effects. The second day addresses specific video needs such as preparing scanned images for use in videos, creating and manipulating alpha channels, using effects to create textures and backgrounds for graphics, creating a menu graphic for use in DVD authoring, and exporting images for use in digital video applications such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, and After Effects. Prerequisites: Basic Macintosh or Windows experience required.

PS 101 — Adobe Photoshop, an Introduction           Register for this Class

This two day course, is for students with little or no experience working with Adobe Photoshop.  The first day introduces students to the Photoshop CS3 interface and toolsets and explains the ins and outs of screen/print resolution and “dots per inch”.  The lessons for the first day will cover the work area, the file browser, basic photo correction, selecting and manipulating pixels using the magic wand and other selection tools, layer basics, working with masks and channels, retouching and repairing photos, and basic painting and editing.  The second day will cover basic pen tool techniques, working with vector paths and shapes, some advanced layer techniques, creating special effects, and preparing images for printing, web, and for import into other graphics applications. 

AE 101 — Introduction to Adobe After Effects          Register for this Class
Length: 2 Days Price: $895/student

This two day course is designed for those with very little or no experience in After Effects.  However, those that have learned by trial and error or that are self-taught will learn much easier and faster ways to do their work. Students will get a brief description of After Effects CS3's capabilities and a brief overview of working with motion graphics and video.  this class will take you through creating a new project and composition, adding footage and elements as layers, applying effects to and manipulating those layers in space and time, creating masks and track mattes, and adjusting how those layers interact with each other.  Students will also learn basic rendering techniques and be able to output their compositions in the most popular video and still formats.

Prerequisites:  Have a general working knowledge of computers and either Windows XP or the Mac OS. 

AE 102 — Adobe After Effects                                       Register for this Class
Length: 2 Days Price: $895/student

This two day course is designed for those with a good working knowledge of After Effects that are ready to take their projects and workflow to the next level. Students will jump right in to one of the most powerful and hard to understand features of After Effects...3D.  A general description of working in 3D space comes first, trust us, it's different.  You will learn to create 3D compositions, how to fly cameras around in 3D space, and design cool lighting effects. 

Prerequisites:  MTA's AE101 class or a good working knowledge of After Effects including having mastered basic keyframing and the velocity graphs, complete understanding of position/scale/rotation/opacity, familiarity with frame blending/motion blur, full understanding of masking/track mattes/stencils, transfer modes, and basic rendering options.
